By my last semester I put a temporary hold on painting figuratively, not wanting to deal with any more of the psychological critique silliness. I saved extensive painting ideas for post-graduation. Meanwhile, being so deeply affected by place, I turned my attention back to factories and other strange spaces. And music, which I can see.

The middle painting was a dream space I walked through. I didn’t know where it was at the time, but I painted it as best I could with the clarity fading in the light of day. In the subsequent critique, everyone said I should make it more dream-like, more drippy and typically hazy. But my dreams are crystal clear.
