The stories from outside my life were now making their first appearances; observations on politics and history, along with the factories, smokestacks, more windows, spikes, lots of spikes, ghosts, gravestones, fish and birds. Many of these things have been swimming in and out of my work for years, decades. I was developing metaphor to get into deeper truths.
