Handmade One-of-a-Kind Stuffed Felt Creatures

I was the little girl who had no use for dolls. But I absolutely loved stuffed animals and zoomorphized creatures, and somewhat related to them the way other children relate to human dolls. And, over time, I never lost that love and delight (see this body of work in the archive pages of this site). Meanwhile, I have dabbled in various fiber arts since my teenage years, for all things tactile and sensory, color and texture.

These stuffies come out of my imagination fairly easily. They start with a doodle of a sketch, and then I create a pattern, consider construction, choose colors and embellishments, and start stitching by hand. As a body of work, this is still very early on, even though I did create a few in the early 2010s. It was at my part-time job working on creative projects with younger autistic adults that I revisited creating felt puppets and stuffies, beginning during the winter of 2023/24. As I realized that I was really into this medium, I began working on a few at home. Once I proved to myself I was serious about it, I indulged in a stash of the "good felt", a much nicer wool-blend material.

This page will evolve during 2025, with the design layout eventually changing. The revised page will also include work-in-progress images.

Some of these creatures are for sale and some are not. Some I am holding onto for now, and may eventually be for sale. They take hours to design and create, and I realize that would make them expensive if they were simply toys. Instead, they are one-of-a-kind original art pieces.
