These are among my very first paintings, not including watercolors or the various kinds of paint that children dabble in. Wallis’ Tea Party was my introduction to acrylics, painted during my senior year of high school, when I was finally allowed to take art classes. I was guided each step of the way by one of my two wonderful art teachers, this one being Mary Jane Orcutt, and it was here that I was turned on to painting.
I took a year off after high school to move to Boston by myself and into an apartment with friends. The second piece was created during my scramble to put together a portfolio for Massachusetts College of Art. Dot Forest was completed after my portfolio was submitted. I had no idea what I was doing. All I knew was that I wanted to paint.
